Raja Yoga

Raja yoga is usually based on directing life forces in order to bring the emotions and mind into balance.

Raja means “royal” and Raja Yoga is the branch of yoga for the most part concerned with meditation. It is ideal for self-examining and contemplative individuals. In this branch there are eight ‘limbs’ or practices, created many of years ago in the work “Yoga Sutras” by the sage Patanjali, which absolutely must be rigorously adhered to.

They are yama-ethical standards, pranayama- control of breath, niyama-self-discipline, dharana-concentration, pratyahara-withdrawal of the sense, dhyana-meditation, and Samadhi-ecstasy or total liberation.
